I am a SAR CONTROLLER
Queensland Marine Rescue Unit Pt.Danger (Coolangatta / Tweed Heads)
The VMR Pt.Danger Unit is responsible for the assistance to marine vessels in and around the
Tweed Heads/Coolangatta areas of South Eastern Queensland. Our unit consists of Four rescue craft,
consisting of one large offshore craft"Steber1", capable of large extended searches, a smaller rigid
inflatable craft"PointDanger 2", and one "Inshore Rescue Boat" to patrol the surf zone.
My duties at this unit include being responsible as the Personnel Officer and a SAR Controller.
We are located on the border of Queensland/New South Wales and in the aerial photo below, our
Radio Communications and Administrative Building can be seen, high above the Pacific Ocean.
